This post is a bit of this and a bit of that, just the way life goes sometimes, right?
This past weekend we finished off my daughter’s birthday celebrations with another Tinkerbell cake. Just sharing, here’s a pic of the two cakes that I made for her. She was very pleased with both of them. I used the Frozen Buttercream Transfer method, and I’m in love with that method. Makes decorating a cake so much less stressful for party day.
And today, December 1st, we had an elf named Jingles arrive at our place. He’s been sent here to keep an eye on the kids for Santa, and he leaves on December 24th to report back to Santa. So, the kids have to behave between now and Christmas (although, really, not a problem with our kids most of the time). However, the elves are known for getting into mischief and trouble during the night, while the kids are sleeping. All sorts of elf antics will be happening here between now and the 24th, I’m sure.
Jingles arrived in his little sleigh, along with a note from Santa himself, his journal, where he keeps notes on the kids (and the antics he plays), as well as some advent calendars for the kids to start their holiday countdown. The kids were very excited, talking about it all the way to the bus, and Jingles is even going to school with my boy today for show & tell.

Great cake decorating!
My favorite tradition my parents did when I was a kid was the Christmas Mouse. He would come by every Saturday night in December, up until Christmas, leaving little goodies and "rat droppings" (chocolate chips).
