I am still in the testing faze with my little ice cream maker. Since I was going through so much cream (and that can’t be good for the hips), I decided to give this sorbet a try. The flavour was unbelievable. It was so crisp, tangy, sweet, and well…orange. 🙂 It definitely hit the spot on a warm summer evening, and it kept a nice texture after being in the freezer overnight too. I couldn’t tell you how it would fare after 2 nights in the freezer though, because it didn’t last that long at our house. 🙂

Ingredients:
8 oz. sugar
1/2 pint fresh orange juice
3/4 pint water
zest of 2 oranges, juice from a whole lemon
Directions:
1. In a saucepan mix together the sugar, water and orange zest. Heat gently, stirring all the time until the sugar has dissolved. Bring to a boil then actually boil the mixture for approximately 5 to 8 minutes – until you have a syrup.
2. Remove from heat and leave to cool. When cool, stir in the orange and lemon juices then transfer the complete mixture into an ice cream maker and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
