Believe it or not, this Cheeseburger & Fries Casserole was really rather tasty. It was super quick to put together, and my kids loved it. When short on time, I’d make it again. It was a layer of seasoned ground beef on the bottom of the dish, topped with french fries (that I pre-baked to get them crispier), and everything was sprinkled with cheddar cheese. And best yet, it’s ready in just over half an hour. 🙂
Cheeseburger & Fries Casserole
Seasoned ground beef topped with crispy french fries and cheese.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs lean ground beef
- 1/2 medium onion, chopped
- salt and pepper to taste
- garlic powder to taste
- 1 teaspoon gluten-free Worcestershire Sauce
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 can condensed Cheddar cheese soup (gluten-free)
- 1 (16 ounce) package gluten-free frozen French fries
- 2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
Place fries on a baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes, while preparing ground beef mixture.
Combine the ground beef and onion in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook, stirring occasionally until beef is no longer pink, and the onion is translucent. Drain off excess grease, and season with salt, pepper and garlic powder.
Return to the heat, and stir in the Worchestershire sauce, sour cream and cheese soup until well blended. Heat through, and remove from stove. Transfer the mixture to a 9x13 inch baking dish. Cover the ground beef mixture with a layer of pre-baked French fries.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes in the preheated oven. When the fries are golden brown, remove the casserole from the oven, and sprinkle cheese over the top. Return to the oven, and bake just until cheese has melted.

What kind of condensed Cheddar cheese soup is GF? Last time I looked Campbell's wasn't & I don't know who else makes this.
Jeanine says
@Suzanne Suzanne, you're right, Campbell's soup is not gluten-free. However, the "no name" soup at Superstore (in Canada) does not contain wheat. It really is a matter of label reading everything.
I think that if you were to use some velvetta in it's place, and possibly some milk to thin it, it would make a great seasoned ground beef as well.
