The Best Grilled Turkey Thighs

First a rub, followed by a slathering of barbecue sauce,is what makes these the Best Grilled Turkey Thighs I’ve ever had.

Turkey's not just for Thanksgiving! Definitely need to make The Best Grilled Turkey Thighs from Faithfully Gluten Free

I will admit it. When it came to grilling, I seldom thought about grilling turkey. I’d do the usual burger and steaks, grilled chicken breast was common, but I seldom thought about grilling turkey. Let me tell you – that has changed. I would add these Grilled Turkey Thighs to the menu once a week if the family allowed. My local grocery stores don’t always have a variety of fresh turkey cuts on hand, but every time I go grocery shopping now, I check to see if they have any turkey thighs.

Since the turkey thighs are brown meat, and brown meat doesn’t dry out as quickly as white meat does, these thighs are still nice and juicy once they are grilled. And do you know how much meat is on a turkey thigh? A LOT!  I often avoid chicken thighs because there isn’t a whole lot of meat per piece, but turkey thighs are huge. Four of these for my family of 4, and we have enough leftovers for lunch the next day.

These turkey thighs are first rubbed with a flavourful paste made using ingredients you probably already have in your cupboard. If you don’t have the smoked paprika, don’t let that stop you, just substitute with regular paprika. After the paste has had a chance to flavour the meat, it’s off to the grill. Once the thighs are nearly done cooking, you can slather them with your family’s favourite gluten free barbecue sauce. The Two Fat Guys sauce that I picked up in Minneapolis at the Gluten Free Food Allergy Conference would be awesome on these grilled turkey thighs. Next time!

Those look amazing! I’ve never had turkey thighs before, but I’m a fairly recent devotee to chicken thighs, so it might happen, especially with this recipe, Jeanine.

    Thanks!

I hope you give them a try, Shirley! One thigh is more than enough meat for one person, so it’s quite economical too. And it doesn’t taste anything like your Thanksgiving turkey either. 😉

Maybe suggest they bring them in? I prefer them to the drumsticks, actually.

I’ve never noticed turkey thighs for sale at the store before, but probably because I wasn’t looking for them! I’ll look next time I’m at the store. I’m always looking for more grilling recipes!

These are so easy, but there is so much meat on them! I hope you find them and can give them a try, Michelle!

Thanks, Calvin! They really are good, now that I can get to my BBQ again (snow has finally melted away from it), I think these will need to be on the menu again too.
