What time is supper, Betty?? 🙂 I sure hope the sunshine comes out soon! Are you being affected by the water at all? We're still high & dry!

Question..did you use the liquid in the beans or did you drain those too?
April 13, 2009 at 11:29 am
I don't think the recipe calls for draining & rinsing, but I usually do. I don't like the bean liquid, especially with black beans (too muddy looking).

Thanks Jeanine..I usually rinse the beans for the same reason..just wondered what you had done..oh yes supper is at 6 pm..if I use your recipe the least I could do is share it with you, right?? grinNope the water levels don’t bother us here..we are at a good elevation here. Glad you’re okay too.

Well, since you’re on the other side of the great big Red “Sea”, I guess I’ll have to pass. Pity, I have no idea what’s for supper here yet.

lol and I thought we were having a long winter! 🙂 This is a great slow cooker soup, my crock pot hasn’t seen enough of these recipes, looks delicious!

This soup was delicious, Jeanine! Thanks, as always, for sharing another fantastic recipe.
I’m glad spring is beginning to find you all these days…
Have a great weekend!

So glad that you gals are liking this soup. The entire family gobbled this one up. It has a nice hint of Mexican food, but it’s not hot. I guess you could make it hot if you wanted, but we liked it just the way it was. 🙂 Apparently you can use beer in place of the chicken broth, but since it’s not GF, I didn’t bother with it.

I made it today, too, and my daughter said, “This is my new favorite soup”. We all loved it. Thanks for a “keeper” for the recipe file.

So glad that your family enjoyed it too, Iris. My 6 year old is very excited if she knows that this is on the menu for supper. Nice that something like this is enjoyed by the whole family.

I love slow cookers and taco soup, so to combine them is awesome. Thanks!

Tennille, you put the chicken in frozen, and then about 1/2 hr before you serve it, you remove the chicken & shred it before returning it back to the soup. My family really likes this soup, and just finished off a pot of it last week. Welcome here! 🙂

I am so glad I made this. It is very tasty and is sure to become a regular for me. I like how much it makes and I don't think I even used all of the chicken it calls for. I think it gets better the following days. Good with cornbread, as well. Thanks again!

Could you tell me approximately how many servings this would make?
January 31, 2012 at 1:18 pm
I would say 8 good size servings from this recipe.

Is the taco seasoning gf? I’ve not looked at them yet, but all the chili seasonings I’ve looked at have gluten in them.

You have to read all the labels, but I make my own. Way better than the store bought packets. 😉 http://www.thebakingbeauties.com/2008/03/taco-seasoning.html

Is this soup gluten and soy free? 🙂 I have a friend who would love it if it is!
April 2, 2013 at 12:05 pm
It is gluten-free, you’ll have to double-check your ingredients for soy, but I don’t think it should be a problem there either.
